Christmas Festivities

We hope you had a Merry Christmas!  This year we started some fun new traditions:

We hosted a Children’s Book Club Playdate.  Theme: Christmas Merriment:

We also enjoyed our son’s reaction to Santa at our Church Christmas Party.  Never gets old.

We made a gingerbread house but you can’t actually eat those, so we also made gingerbread cookies, drove through a big light display and let the boy OUT of his carseat while meandering through (that was a big hit), read LOTS of Christmas books, (Our favorite: Dinosaur’s Night Before Christmas by Jim Harris), had a preschool lesson about Holidays (did you know that aprox. 4% of American’s celebrate Festivus from Seinfeld? lol), cut down a very scraggly looking Christmas tree, ate way too much See’s Candy, love love LOVED the fresh oranges of the season, celebrated with wonderful friends, decorated our home from top to bottom, and most importantly, had a family devotional where we taught our son about the Advent of the Savior Jesus Christ.  It was a lovely Christmas.

I have to also mention that my sweet husband stayed up all night on two separate occasions playing Santa’s elf.  He painted a rocking chair for our new baby’s nursery and surprised me with it on Christmas morning.  It turned out beautifully.

Little man picked up on several Christmas songs this year and was just charming as he sang “Jingle Bells” on repeat after we put him to bed at night.  As I type this, he is singing a toddler version of “Angels We Have Heard on High” and I have no idea how he memorized it from hearing it a handful of times this season!  Kids are so amazing.  What a joyful season of life and a joyful season of the year too.

Hope you enjoyed this lovely time of year as much as we did.
