Many Thanks

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving this year.  I am thankful for the bounties and beauties of life.  Getting all curled up with a light-hearted Christmas novel, twinkling strands of colored bulbs reflected in my children’s eyes, enjoying shameless and unladylike portions of pie, a taffeta Sunday dress that trips my baby girl as she crawls in her petticoat, getting on the road and driving south until the snowflakes melt and it’s sunny and warm outside, crisp paper grocery bags full of festive foods, hymns of thanksgiving, my miniature gentleman wanting to do EVERYTHING with his daddy: These are a few of my favorite things from this season.

My personal prayer of Thanksgiving:

Dear Father in Heaven, I thank Thee for this life as a time of learning, a time of testing, a time to work.  I thank Thee for my parents who guide me daily with the standard of their goodness. I thank Thee, Father, for my husband of eight years. He still sweeps me off my feet and I feel like the world holds endless possibilities for us.  I thank Thee for the beauty of Thy creations which please the eye and gladden the heart.  I thank Thee for my heart, each breath, the body which Thou has given me, imperfections and all.  I thank Thee for the children Thou hast given me, and for the ways that they teach me, inspiring my faith. I thank Thee for my belief in the Savior, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Scriptures which teach of Him.  I am thankful for the teachings of the modern prophets and apostles who help me to understand this life and myself within it, and encourage me along my path of discipleship.  I am grateful that Thou art with me, that I feel of Thy love and see Thy hand in my life.  As often as I have prayed, Thou hast answered me. My heart overflows with gratitude for which I have no words to express.  These things I thank Thee for in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
